| Girl-Torque is Alive!, 21st March 2006

Well, it finally happened, Girl-Torque, the best website on the net for female car enthusiasts is up and running. Still in its infancy, we hope to see Girl-Torque grow and grow in years to come! For now, I shall entertain you with a little backstory...
A year or so ago, a group of likeminded ladies who were part of the Toyota Owners' Club (TOC) banded together to form a little group called' SoTOC' (Sisters of Toyota Owners' Club). This group of ladies had their own website, graciously hosted by one of their own, and even got around to having T-Shirts printed and a Banner done. They were there to support TOC and provide a bit of girly banter and most of all, to have fun!
SoTOC brought many of the female members of TOC from all over the UK together, in a generally male dominated forum.
Time passed and SoTOC faded somewhat into the background, it wasnt fulfilling the needs of the members anymore, and as they didnt have new members joining very often, and even had a member leave (the one who maintained the website)... The others decided that it was time to take action.
After much discussion, and some great ideas, Girl-Torque was formed, thanks to a fantastic name idea from Kimi, and oddly enough edited by a friend of mine, Dave! I set up the phpbb forums and created a front page to the site, and with the talents of Caz we created a logo fit for the new project.... Girl-Torque!
I invited each of the original SoTOC members still left to use the site in its preliminary stages, and let me know what was needed, and what we could do away with. A few modifications later (Garage for example)... we were pretty much ready to go...
So here we are, a new chapter in the life of what was once SoTOC, and the beginnings of Girl-Torque (GT). We hope it will have many prosperous years to come!
